Gary Keith Smith

KERNERSVILLE-Gary Keith Smith, 56, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, August 24, 2015. He was born November 19, 1958 in Forsyth Co. to Gladies Raeford and Mattie Hill Smith. Keith grew up in Forsyth Co.; graduated from East Forsyth High School, received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University, obtained his MBA and an MS in Information Technology and Management from UNCG. Keith had a long and successful career in the IT field. He recently celebrated his second year of employment at The Fresh Market as the manager of the project management office. In addition, Keith taught for the last 10 years as an adjunct professor at Guilford College in Greensboro. Despite much professional success, Keith's greatest accomplishment was the family he created with his wife Kathy. Keith was totally devoted to his family and always put them before himself. He will be truly missed by the many people who knew and loved him. Surviving Keith, are his wife of 15 years, Kathy Griswold; children, Christopher, Henrik and Koyana Smith; grandchild, A'Loura; his parents Raeford and Mattie Smith; brothers, Ray (Violet) Smith, Jr., Tim (Beverly) Smith and Jeffrey Smith; sister, Lorene (John) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Palmyra United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
