Gary Thomas Echols

Winston Salem - Gary Thomas Echols, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his home. He was born March 1, 1939 in Forsyth Co. to the late Clinton Thomas and Helen Collins Echols. Tom graduated from Kernersville High School and retired from the Winston Salem Fire Department after thirty years of service. He was the starting pitcher for the local baseball team of Kernersville that won a pennant over forty years ago. Tom LOVED LIFE. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed spending time outside fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR. Surviving are his wife, Marie Wolfe Echols of the home; two daughters, Tommie Anne Echols of Kernersville and Kathy DuMoulin and husband, Bobby of Jacksonville, FL; two grandsons, Ian McKenna and Hunter DuMoulin. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Mt. Gur Cemetery with Pastor Joe Woodward officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
