Gary Ray Spanky" Cox

Mr. Gary Ray ""Spanky"" Cox, age 62 of Winston-Salem died August 17, 2010 at his home after an extended illness. Gary was born in Forsyth County, May 10, 1948 to the late Junior and Norma Spainhour Cox. He graduated from North Forsyth High School and attended NC State University. Gary was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. He served as Sunday School Teacher, member of the adult choir and was a car salesman for many years. In addition to his father Gary was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Jimmy Isaacs. Surviving are his wife of 25 years; Linda Snyder Cox of the home. Son; Robi Cox of Nashville, TN. Step-son; Michael (Jennifer) Mayberry of Winston-Salem. Step-granddaughter; Alyssa. His mother; Norma Cox of Rural Hall. Three sisters; Janice Isaacs and Susan (Freddie) Elliott both of Rural Hall and Carol Parker of Tobaccoville. Niece Amy Parker and nephew James Isaacs. A very special aunt; Susie Speas. Father-in-law and mother-in-law; Harold and Zena Snyder. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law; David and Marcia Willard. Many other relatives and friends. His beloved cats Abby and Tux.A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at Antioch United Methodist Church in Rural Hall by Rev. Duncan Martin. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 325 Davie Ave, Statesville, NC 28677 or to Antioch United Methodist Church, 9220 Antioch Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.The family would like to say a very special Thanks to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice.
