KERNERSVILLE- Gary William Berube, 49, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury of respiratory complications. Gary was born in Syracuse, New York to Robert William Berube & Carol Ann Berube. Gary served in the United States Navy from 1980-1986. He saw active military duty on the USS Carl Vinson-CVN 70 as it supported the British during the Falklands War in 1982. Gary was very talented with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting knives and firearms. Gary was a caring and loving son, brother, father and pé©pé¨re. He was also a doting papa to his little toy poodle ""Holly"". Gary is survived by his parents R.W. ""Bob"" Berube of Smith Mountain Lake, VA and Carol Ann Berube of High Point; two brothers, Randy Scott Berube of High Point and Tad Arthur Berube of Zebulon; two children, Amber Jane Berube of Kernersville and Blake William Berube of High Point; and two grandchildren, Carmella Nicole Marino and Jayden Kobe Glenn both of Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:30 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel, 141 Smith Edwards Road Kernersville, NC, 27284. Gary's wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered in the ocean, which will be honored at a later date.
