Mr. Gary Neil Aaron, 56, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at his home. Born February 20, 1953, Gary was the eldest son of Price and Margaret Shields Aaron with three brothers, Lloyd, Roger and Stephen (deceased). He was a National Honor Society graduate of West Forsyth High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. Gary and Sterling were joined in marriage in March of 1977. Together they parented Ray Pruett and Neal Aaron (wife Denise). They have three grandchildren, Shane, Brooke and Ethan Aaron. They also parented Gary's nephew, Andrew Aaron. Gary chose to be a self-employed businessman. He was a gifted craftsman who always desired excellence in each of his projects. Grounded in faith, he served as Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, Elder, Synod Delegate, hosted men's Bible studies in his home, supported missionaries, and sang in the choir. His passion was the band, and he played in the Moravian band from the age of nine. He was honored to be chosen as one of the lead trumpets for the ""Bandsmen"" at Old Salem. Gary was a member of Masonic Lodge 434 in Lewisville. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6. Funeral services and burial will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with the Rev. Dr. Worth Green and the Rev. Burke Johnson officiating.
