Gale Pinnix McDuffie

Mrs. Gale Pinnix McDuffie, 71, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012. She was born March 20, 1940 in Forsyth County to Aldon Gray Pinnix and Ruth Hartman Pinnix. Mrs. McDuffie was an active member of Griffith Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was the church pianist. She was very active in the Forever Young group at the church and was known to many young children she raised as ""Mommy Gale"". Mrs. McDuffie also volunteered at the SCAN Shelter. Surviving are her husband, Jim McDuffie; two daughters, Leigh Goodin (Brian) and Laurie Lockwood (Bruce); three grandchildren, Jordan Goodin, Kaitlyn Lockwood and Jessica Lockwood, all of Winston-Salem; one brother, Michael Pinnix (Sandra) of Winston-Salem; aunts, Pat Butler (Harold) and Geraldine Dixon (Phil); two sister-in-laws, Faye Gardner of Winston and Kathy Meacombs (Harold) of Middlesex, NC; a very special friend, Margaret Wolfe of Winston-Salem and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Griffith Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Brown officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
