Mrs. Freida Elise Havens Sumners, 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at her home. She was born January 6, 1933 in Tulsa, OK to John Fred and Elise Freund Havens who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sumners was a member of Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Lewisville. She enjoyed bowling and served as assocation secretary. She also enjoyed gardening and sitting on the deck with her husband in the afternoon watching the birds with her favorite beverage and her pet, Krebles. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Charles ""Charley"" W. Sumners of the home; two sons, Jerry Sumners and wife Trish of Lewisville and Tom Sumners and wife Debbie of Clemmons; four grandchildren, Justin and Eric Sumners, Warren and Candice Greenfield; one great grandson, Elijah; and two sisters, Virginia Stark and husband Roger, and Mary Creekmore, all of Tulsa, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
