Mr. Fred W. Smith, 87, passed away peacefully at Forsyth Medical Center on March 1, 2022. He was born on January 17, 1935, to the late Alex Fred Smith and Hazel Bowden Smith of Davie County. He was a member of Pinedale Christian Church where he served as Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. Fred retired from the United States Postal Service where he was employed for 30 years. Fred was a member of Konnoak Hills Lions Club for many years. He enjoyed coaching baseball and softball at South little league. Fred was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports. He cherished his marriage to his wife Doris of 60 years. He was a loving daddy, brother, and papa to his grandkids and great-grandkids. Along with his parents. Fred is preceded in death by his son, Brent Smith. He is survived by his wife, Doris Smith; loving daughter Amy Ketchie: son, Barry Smith (Lori); granddaughters; Katie Kelley (Jake) and Bailey Smith (Justin); grandson, Nathan Baity; great-grandchildren; Skylar, Emmy, Grayson, and Kelley; sister, Zelda Burton. The family will hold a church service at Pinedale Christian Church at 11:00 AM Friday, March 4, 2022, with Pastor Bill McKenzie and Pastor Danny Spainhour officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. It is the family’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Konnoak Hills Lions Club, 2681, Weymouth Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
