Fredrick David Masten

KERNERSVILLE-Fredrick David Masten, 85, died Friday, November 7, 2014. He was born May 23, 1929 in Forsyth Co. to the late John Henry and Ola Knouse Masten.

Mr. Masten was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 34 years with AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Bobbie Smith Masten; brothers, Robert W. ""Brick"" Masten, Henry M. Masten; and a half-brother, John E. Jones.

Surviving are his brother, Richard K. Masten of Advance; three sisters-in-law, Vanda Smith Viehman, Joyce Burton Smith and Ivy Lee Smith, and; along with many nieces and nephews;

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Jim Saul and Jay Boyce officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday, November 10, 2014 at the church.

The family wishes to express great appreciation to the staff of Kerner Ridge for the loving care given to David. We also are grateful to Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their love and attention these last few weeks.
