Frederick Hugh-Craig Bickford, Jr.

Frederick H. C. Bickford Mr. Bickford died peacefully on April 10, 2009 at Bermuda Village his home for the past 15 years. Mr. Bickford was born Feb. 1, 1922 in a suburb of Washington, D.C. He served in the Air force during WWII eventually retiring as a Major in the Air Force reserve. Mr. Bickford attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York and received his engineering degree from the U. of Denver. After working for many years as a Professional Engineer, early retirement enabled Mr. Bickford to pursue an avocation in art. He returned to school and completed a B.S. degree in Studio Art at American University. He then spent the remaining years of his life pursuing a career as both an artist and an art teacher. His art appeared in many shows. Mr. Bickford is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gladys. Survivors also include his sister Loretta Jane Garbrick and her children Craig Garbrick and Kathy Cuddapah and their children, Hugh, Drew, Dillon and Kara; a daughter, Linda McCracken, a granddaughter Karen Cegielski and her husband Matthew and a great-grandchild Brenna Rose. A memorial service honoring Mr. Bickford's life will be held in the Parlor at Bermuda Village Retirement Community at 2:00 on Saturday, April 25, 2009 with The Rev. Sealy Cross officiating.
