Kernersville- Mrs. Freda Fern Johnson, 85, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. She was born December 23, 1936, in Foster Creek, Madison County, NC, the daughter of Porter Lee and Maggie Fender Johnson. She was a member of Laurelton Chapel Freewill Baptist and Piedmont Cowboy Church. Freda was retired from the Guilford County School System after over 20 years of service. She was a protector, a caretaker for everyone around her and did not know a stranger. Devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was always proud of her family’s accomplishments. Most of all Freda loved her Lord and Savior, which was evident in her daily life. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Amber Michelle Turner; her son-in-law, Kenneth Turner, Jr. and her siblings, Doris Johnson Damer, Nathan L. Johnson, Athelene Johnson Rice, Trudy Johnson Ellison, Dennis Locke Johnson, Kathryn Johnson Culver, Gail Johnson Biddix, Alan Johnson and special friend Art Newburg. Survivors include her three children, Michael L. Taffer (Wendy) of Glen Burnie, MD, Kenneth A. Taffer (Terri) of Summerfield and Sarah N Turner of Kernersville; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Anna) Taffer, Caleb Taffer, Jessica (Gavin) Thompson, Kaitlin Taffer, Jake Thornberry and Chad and Hannah Turner; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Sidney B. Johnson of Asheville N.C. Services will be held at a later date at Laurelton Freewill Baptist Church, Foster Creek, Madison County, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family
