Fred Wade Wall, 86, died peacefully on March 31, 2016 after his long and courageous battle with emphysema and COPD. He fought the good fight, kept the faith, and has now inherited his heavenly home. ""Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His saints.""
Mr. Wall was born December 2, 1929 in Wilkes County, the son of Albert Wall and Louise Wood Wall. Mr. Wall was preceded in death by his ""precious little wife"" of 55 years, Shigeko Wall.
He served 27 years in the US Air Force and retired in 1975 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars and his tour of service carried him to many countries including Japan, Thailand, Korea and Germany. Mr. Wall received the Soldier's Medal for risking his life to save others, which is a testament to his integrity. In 1952, he and five other airmen responded to a C-46 aircraft crash by venturing out into heavy seas in search of survivors. Although hampered by darkness and high waves, six survivors were located and brought back to shore. Their courage and determination in risking their lives to save others, reflected great credit upon themselves and the United States Air Force.
Many including his family heralded him as a hero. Mr. Wall was a kind and generous person who always gave above and beyond to those in need.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Sheehan; sister Tommye Gengo; nephew Mike Gengo and wife Deb; niece Lisa Burton and husband Bill, great niece Ashley Williams and family; and great nephew Rieti Gengo.
The family deeply appreciates the angels, Mike, Mary and Angel, who cared for him and helped him live out his last days with peace and happiness. Without them, we could not have endured. The family would also like to acknowledge with grateful appreciation the kind and gracious nurses, aids and staff at Hospice.
The family will receive friends Sunday April 3, 2016 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 PM. The service will be conducted at 2:00 pm at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Sandra Bovender officiating. Entombment will be at Parklawn Memorial immediately following the service.
""And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.""â¦Revelation 21, 4:5 KJV
