Mr. Fred Richard Parsley, 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 2, 1935 in Mitchell County, NC to Boyd and Bonnie Parsley. Fred was an avid outdoorsman whose happiest times were spent hunting, fishing and working at the family farm, especially with his grandsons. He loved the mountains, beach, and cooking steaks for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy McEntire; and a brother, Bill Parsley. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Dr. Betsy Allen Parsley; two daughters, Cynthia Karonis of Pfafftown and Lynn Parsley of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Zachery Parmer and Joseph Karonis; son-in-law, Paul Karonis; three sisters, Mary Carswell, Shirley McKinney and Helen McGee; and special ""family"", Alan, Tom and Wilson Pace, Kathy Ausen, and Johnny Miller. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Thomas Murray officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice. We really appreciate all your kindness.
