Fred Burton Martin, of Rural Hall, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, on May 4th, 2022 at Village Care, in King, North Carolina. He was born on July 2nd, 1930, in Belews Creek, North Carolina to the late John Albert Martin and Mary Alice Belle Morphies Martin. He was retired from Lingle's Fine Cakes in Winston-Salem. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruby Smith Martin, and sisters Audrey Martin Ham and Juanita Martin Fulp of Winston-Salem. He leaves behind his children; Lynn Ellen Martin of King, NC; Phyllis Martin Dempsey and husband Chris of Pinnacle, NC; Glenn Daniel Martin and wife Lynn of Mooresville, NC; and Tony Burten Martin and wife Cindy of Tobaccoville, NC; two grandsons, Logan Noah Martin of Mooresville, NC, and Adam Daniel Martin and wife Sierra of Denver, NC, as well as one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Grace Martin of Denver, NC. A niece, Patsy F. Lineback and husband Joel of Rural Hall, NC and brother-in-law, Olen Smith of Dayton, OH. Fred and his wife Ruby played and sang with a gospel bluegrass quartet for a number of years. They loved “Making Music Together" He was a member of Stafford Baptist Church, where he sang and played guitar, and banjo. Prior to declining health, Fred loved spending time outdoors working in his yard and taking long walks. A graveside service will be held at Love’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Walkertown, NC for a 2:00 pm graveside service Monday, May 9,2022 and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Fred’s memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 or Love's United Methodist Cemetery Fund, 3020 Main Street, Walkertown, NC 27051.
