Fred Wallace Kreeger, 90, passed peacefully in the comfort of his Lewisville home Tuesday, July 21st, at 2:10 pm with his daughter, Cindy by his side. He was born on November 5th, 1924 to Ila Mae & Henry Kreeger in Tobaccoville, NC. Fred, also known as Corney, was definitely a man with a fun-loving character who absolutely loved life, his home, but most of all his family. Fred took pride in his ability to always provide for his family as he dedicated his life to public service. He started his career as a Winston-Salem firefighter, then a Winston-Salem police officer, and then completed 31 years with the Winston-Salem ABC Law Enforcement Agency where he served as Asst. Chief. He was also a member of N.C. ABC Law Enforcement Association. Fred was a 32nd degree Mason of the Winston-Salem Masonic Temple, Lodge 707, where he served as Master. He was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church where he and the love of his life, his wife Sarah, were married. He then became a member of Lewisville Baptist Church where he was a member for over 40 years. Fred truly loved and appreciated his church family. He is now reunited with his wife of 67 years, Sarah, who preceded him in death on May 7th of this year. Fred definitely fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. In addition to his parents, Fred was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Hayes, and brother, Bill Kreeger. Surviving are his daughter, Cindy Jacobs (Jim); grandchildren, Jennifer Laptewicz (Peter), and Amanda Brigman (Bill); great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate and Benjamin Laptewicz; and numerous nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 25th, at Lewisville Baptist Church with Dr. George Smith and Rev. Jo Bjorling officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24th, from 6:00-8:00 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewisville Baptist Church, 125 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Lewisville, NC 27023. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who have helped during this difficult time especially Fred's church family at Lewisville Baptist Church and close neighbors.
