Mr. Fred Daniel Gragg, 75, passed away August 26, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born August 4, 1938 in Boone, NC to the late S. S. and Enice Moretz Gragg. He was a member and Deacon at Old Town Baptist Church, and previously attended Becks Baptist and South Fork Baptist Churches all in Winston-Salem. After graduating from Appalachian High School, he served in the U.S. Navy for three years (1957-1959) including his time aboard the USS Prichett. After serving his country he graduated in 1963 from Appalachian State Teachers College. He played Semi-pro baseball and enjoyed teaching Science and coaching in Forsyth and Yadkin Counties for 34 years. His passion was his family, grandkids, friends, cycling, softball, and bowling. Mr. Gragg volunteered consistently at the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and for his church. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend lovingly known by his children and grandchildren as ""pop"". He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny Gragg and Bill Gragg and Bill's wife Mary Ann. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Martha Gragg, and her two children, Christopher and Rebecca Reel; two sons, Mark Gragg and his wife Jennifer and four grandkids, and Robert Gragg and wife Melissa and two grandkids; a sister-in-law, Andrea Patterson and husband Jim, and their son Jordan and a sister-in-law, Opal Ragan Gragg. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Old Town Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Speas officiating. Inurnment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Red Cross, 690 Coliseum Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or the Second Harvest Food Bank, 3655 Reed St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
