""For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."" Mr. Franklin D. Key, 76 of Lexington passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1934 in Yadkin County to David Rufus and Mary Edith Hobson Key. Franklin was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Franklin was a member of First Baptist Church Welcome. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Alvis (Betty Jean) Key, Wade (Vicy) Key, infant Jimmy Key and a sister Pearlie (Howard) Pendry. Surviving are his wife of 50 years Mary Edith Cook Key of the home, one daughter and a son-in-law, Rachel and Richard Joyce, 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Catherine Joyce all of East Bend, one brother, Arno (Dot) Key of King, 2 sisters Pat (Arlon) Henderson of Thomasville, Georgia, and Velma Lee (Billy) Lane of Pinnacle, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem; on Monday, October 11 from 6 until 8pm. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 12 at First Baptist Church Welcome with the Rev. Mark Blair and the Rev. Mark Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW 10346.
