Mr. Franklin Herman Auman, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2021 surrounded by family and friends at his home.
Franklin was born July 6, 1934 in Columbia, S.C. to James and Grace Auman. He received his Bachelor degrees in Math and Physics from Guilford College and his Masters degree in Business from UNCG. He also served his country in the United States Navy and later worked for and retired from AT&T. Much of his work was in the field of engineering and it was through this work that he got to see many countries and meet many people whom he would have never met otherwise. Franklin was a man of large stature but had a heart of gold. He never forgot his humble beginnings and always found ways to help people in need throughout his life. He was a loving, caring husband to his late wife, Barbara Beale Auman, as well as an amazing father to his three daughters and grandchildren.
Franklin is survived by his daughters, Nancy Brown and husband Danny, Amy Alford, and Deborah Newman; grandchildren, Uri Brown, Aiden Alford, and Amber Cudd and husband Bryan; great grandson, Lyam; and special niece, Starr Hill.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 2 PM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state 30 min prior to the service at the cemetery.
