Mrs. Frankie Cheek Walker of Kernersville died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 2, 1932 in Roaring River, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Anis Jolly Cheek. Mrs. Walker was a longtime active member of Kerwin Baptist Church. She loved gospel singing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Boyer and twelve brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband, Archie Davis Walker of the home; two sons, Randy Boyer of Winston-Salem and Kevin Boyer and wife, Laura of Tobaccoville; one daughter, Melinda Johnston and husband, Michael of Ft. Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Katie Kahalioumi and Dianne Boyer of Tobaccoville and Isabelle Johnston of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Leo Cheek and wife, Arlene of Roaring River; two step daughters, Alisa Walker Rothrock of Winston-Salem and Susan Walker Cook of Clemmons; four step grandchildren; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Joe Myers officiating. A private family burial will follow at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Roaring River. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kerwin Baptist Church, 4520 Old Hollow road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
