He came to Winston Salem in 1940 after graduating from Fines Creek High School. He worked in several restaurants before getting into carpentry work. He had owned a restaurant called Frank's Place. After getting some experience he got his Broker's License and then decided to start building houses, which he did for a long time with his brothers. When his son Dennie and his daughter, Sharon graduated college he went into business with them and his wife, Quenieth as Fish Real Estate.

He enjoyed building things and he lead the building of the 3 car garage at the parsonage with the help of the other members. He always tried to help whenever needed.

Frank liked the verse of scripture, "He who feareth the Lord will be blessed." He always felt that he had been blessed in so many ways. Another favorite was "Honor you father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." He loved his family and was thankful to be with them for so long, He used to say, "my wife, my faith and my guardian angel are my best help."

He played the guitar and had a gospel trio with his children. They played at many nursing homes for several years. This is where he always said he got his spiritual uplifting.

His wife of 56 years, Quenieth Elizabeth Long Fish, preceded him in death and he often said "long to meet her in heaven and to be with her again."

His brothers, Fred Fish, J. Max Fish and Charles Woodrow Fish of Winston Salem, along with his sisters Aleatha Fish of Fines Creek, and Inez Pfaff Pfafftown all preceded him in death.
