Francis Allen "Yank" Yancey

Francis Allen (Yank) Yancey, 95, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2023. He died peacefully in his sleep at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born to Mary Elizabeth and Lee Jackson Yancey on July 15, 1927 in Granville County, NC. He was an excellent athlete his entire life and excelled in many sports. After serving in the Navy during WWII and graduating from UNC-CH, he moved to Winston-Salem with his new wife, Barbara, where he lived for the rest of his life. Yank started his career with the NC Revenue Dept and then worked as the Asst Comptroller for the WSFC school system for over 20 years. After retiring, he and Barbara, owned and operated a tax and bookkeeping service. Yank was a faithful member of Konnoak Baptist Church for over 58 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Director and teacher, on the finance committee, and other roles. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 2003. Yank loved the beach and playing golf, but he especially enjoyed being with his family. Yank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of over 71 years, four children- Al, Steve, Rhonda Morgan and Sandra and their spouses. He had eight grandchildren- Rachel, Brett, David, Alyssa, Matt, John, Jennifer, and Travis and 9 great grandchildren- Preston, Caden, Whitley and Cash, Daniel, Lily and Elliott, and Banks, Briggs and their brother on the way.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice Home for their compassionate care during his final days. 

The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 29 at Calvary Baptist Church (Peace Haven Campus), with the funeral service at 3:00 pm, with Brother James Joseph officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Yank desired a donation be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
