Francis Marion Stevens, Jr.

Mr. Francis Marion Stevens, Jr. passed away Wednesday afternoon at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1915 in Eustis, Florida to the late Francis Marion and Florence Kate Butts Stevens. Francis was a member of Green St. United Methodist Church and enjoyed working in his workshop. He loved making furniture, shelves, and ornamental wood working for his family and church bazaars. Francis was a veteran of World War II in the US Army Air Corp serving in the African Theater and European Theater. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Alice Bailey Stevens; two sisters Elizabeth Mae Pratt and Florence Mitchell; and two brothers Willis and Charles Stevens. Francis is survived by stepson Dan Ledford and wife Harriett of California; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Carpenter and Rev. Paul Stewart officiating.
