Mr. Francis Cornelius Motsinger, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital. He was born May 21, 1922 in Davidson County to Robert E. Motsinger, Sr. and Myrtle Shoaf Motsinger. Mr. Motsinger was a longtime member of Midway United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for over 50 years. He was a charter and lifetime member of Midway Lions Club with perfect attendance. He held numerous positions in the local club and on the zone and district levels. Mr. Motsinger was co-founder of Motsinger Block Plant, Inc. with his brother, Robert Motsinger. Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Louise N. Motsinger; four brothers, Robert, Jr., Arthur, Hollis, and Raymond Motsinger; and one sister, Lillie Mae Motsinger. Surviving are his sons, F. Smith (Smitty) Motsinger and wife Cathy, and Neal Motsinger and wife Gail; three granddaughters, Hannah, Megan and Emma Grace, all of Midway; three sisters, Elizabeth Long of Midway, Dorthine Oakley of Thomasville and Helen Shoaf of Farmington; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Motsinger and Rachael Nifong, both of Midway; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Motsinger enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and his three precious granddaughters. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John C. Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church's Christian Fellowship Center.
