Mr. Francis Joseph Paul Fitzmaurice “Fitz”, 81, passed away at his home in King on December 26, 2024. He was born on November 20, 1943, in Somerset County, Maine to the late Frank Donald Fitzmaurice and Barbara Chase Fitzmaurice. Francis married his wife, Sadie Mae Collins Fitzmaurice on June 19, 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six and a half years during the Vietnam war. Following his service in the Navy, he was a member of the United States Army National Guard for three years. Francis had a long career as a hydraulics specialist with several companies across the United States. He was a trusted mechanic who was often called on for his services and taught many people about hydraulics. He then worked for Pinkerton Government Services in Kazakhstan, Russia and retired after ten years. He enjoyed golfing and birdwatching, was a handyman and jack of all trades. He also enjoyed spending time with his cat, Lola Mae. In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by fourteen siblings. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, one son, Rusty Fitzmaurice (Marissa), their children, Joseph, Kiana, and Dean Fitzmaurice, two daughters, Angela F. Coidan (Eric), their children, Larry Durst III, and Michael and Cortney Nice, and her children, Anorah and Stella of Raleigh, and Tina McLean (Barry), and their children, Andrew, Matthew (Taylor), and Kendall McLean of East Bend; and one brother, Michael Fitzmaurice of Bowdoin, Maine. There will be no formal services by request of the family.
