Mrs. Frances Waylene Smyers Thomas, 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born January 23, 1929 in Walbash, IN to Hugh and Elsie Sweeney Smyers. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Brookstown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Walbash, IN where she grew up. Mrs. Thomas was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who looked forward to going on a salt fishing trip with her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Terresa Jo. Surviving are her husband, Cecil T. Thomas of Pilot Mountain; one son, Terry Joe Thomas (Lisa) of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Tennyson Jacob, Hayden and Anderson Li. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. James T. ""Chip"" Webb, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Eugene Paschold and nurses at the Forsyth Regional Cancer Center and to the staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their care for Mrs. Thomas.
