Frances Maxine Tedder

COLFAX - Frances Maxine Hawkins Tedder, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born on April 23, 1932, to the late Parker Hawkins and Blannie Priddy Hawkins. Frances was the type of woman who loved being outside. In the warm weather, you would always find her outside tending to her plethora of flowers. When she wasn’t gardening, she’d be riding her four-wheeler with her trusted companion and best friend, Toto. Frances was a woman of faith for nearly all her life. She was a devoted member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, then Valley View Baptist Church. She lead many youth bible studies and loved helping with Vacation Bible School. Frances also shared her love for music by playing the piano at both churches. She was a hard-working woman and retired from RJ Reynolds. She enjoyed watching sports like baseball and basketball- and was an adamant Brave’s fan. She and her husband, Glenn, enjoyed the company of friends and family, and made many memories talking over a homecooked meal made by Ed, a close family friend. 

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Curtis Tedder; a brother, Raymond Parker Hawkins; a sister, Jerolene Hawkins Loggins; a nephew, Joe Loggins; a niece, Pauline Loggins; and her loving companion and “soul-dog”, Toto. 

She is survived by her oldest boy friend, Ed Cieplinski (Joanne); nephews, Wayne Loggins (Tommie), Wade Loggins and Joe Ray Hawkins; and many other extended family members and friends. 

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley View Baptist Church at P.O. Box 1411, Kernersville, NC 27284 or to Smith Grove Baptist Church at 2707 Sandy Ridge Rd, Colfax, NC 27235.
