Frances Baughn Lewis

Mrs. Frances Baughn Lewis, 88, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Lewis was born on August 4, 1927, in Georgia to the late William Lennox Baughn and Willie Mae Kidd Baughn. She was a member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Frances enjoyed playing card games, bingo and many other games with her ""sorority sisters"" and many other friends at Homestead Hills. She also loved taking trips to Cherokee, NC. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Laffatte Lewis; one daughter, Kathy Lewis Newsom; and two brothers, Winston and Bill Baughn. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her son, David Lewis and wife, Sandra of Supply, NC; three grandchildren, Kristie Lewis Barefoot of Burlington, NC, Erik Newsom and Michael Newsom, both of Winston-Salem; one step-grandson, Robbie Cole of California; and three great-grandchildren, Keri Barefoot, Alex Barefoot, and Elliot Newsom. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Manser officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, 430 Weisner St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Lewis.
