Frances Ann Laughter, 83, passed peacefully at Trinity Elms Health and Rehabilitation in Clemmons, NC on December 9, 2023. Frances was born September 22, 1940, to Floyd and Mae Williams of Kings Mountain, NC. Frances graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1958 and continued her college education later in life. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Carolina University with a BA in education in 1984. Frances taught as an L.D. teacher in various school systems in North and South Carolina. She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1998. Many of her students kept in touch with Frances through the years to share the positive impact she had on their lives, helping them to become successful adults in their own communities. Frances was married to her loving husband, Reverend Jerry S. Laughter for over 50 years. She served in many capacities in the churches where he pastored. Frances had a love of animals, arts and theater, and writing. Several of her short stories and poetry were published. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Charles Kenneth “Kenny” Laughter and three of her sisters, Shelia Rowan, Elaine Watts and Charlene Hamrick. She is survived by her daughter Renee Laughter Taylor and her husband John N. Taylor, Jr., her sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Strain of Gaffney SC, six nieces, three nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Frances will now be reunited with her beloved husband and son. The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite children’s or animal charity.
