Frances Johnson Hicks

Mrs. Frances Johnson Hicks, 91, of Kernersville, NC died September 4, 2011 at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born January 25, 1920 to Zachary and Hattie Johnson of Lexington, NC and lived there until marrying Durward A. Hicks and moving to Winston-Salem. Mr. Hicks predeceased her in 2004. She was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church and a retired employee of the NC Baptist Home for the Aging. Surviving are her daughter Jane H. Doty and husband Furman of Kernersville; a son James A. Hicks and wife Kathy of Greensboro; four grandchildren Robin England (Randy) of Knoxville, TN, Allison Reid (Bruce Warrington) of Durham, Meredith Moore (Paul) of Boone, and Morgan Arledge (Brad) of Colfax; four great grandchildren Blake and Joshua Kerley of Knoxville, TN, Sam Warrington of Durham, NC and Kennedy Moore of Boone, NC; two step great grandchildren Darvin and Hogan England of Knoxville, TN. She also leaves behind cherished friends Billy and Carolyn Beeson of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held at the chapel of Hayworth-Miller Funeral Service, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:30 PM with visitation before the service at 1:30 PM.
