Frances Merritt Hayes

Mrs. Frances Merritt Hayes, 94, went to be with our Lord at Yadkin Nursing Center on April 12, 2016. She was born on December 30, 1921 to Lawrence Melvin Merritt and Eva Kiser Merritt in Forsyth County. Frances was a life-long member of New Hope Christian Church where her father served as pastor. Frances dearly loved her family; we cherish our many years together and will hold her close in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Warren Hayes; as well as brothers, Lawrence Melvin Merritt, Jr., and Charles Merritt. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn H. Blevins and Helen H. Stankwytch (Leo); grandchildren, Robin (J.D.), Kristi (Keith), Cheryl (Jay), Greg, and Donna (Eddie); great grandchildren, Zachary, Madelyn, Jackson, Ben, Nathan, Michael, and Jacob; sister, Barbara Griggs (Garland); and brother, William ""Bill"" Merritt (Peggy). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Josh Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Ln., Ste. 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
