Frances McCollum Coone

WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Frances McCollum Coone, 100, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Homestead Hills Skilled Nursing Home. Mrs. Coone was born on April 24, 1914 in Winston-Salem to Earnest and Betty McCollum. She was a long-time and devoted member of Northwest Baptist Church. Frances was a quiet and private person. She loved her family and provided for them all of her life. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after working there for 46 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coone was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin T. Coone, Sr.; son, Ronald Coone; and two sisters, Virginia Bassett and Sue Cartwright. Mrs. Coone is survived by two sons, Marvin Coone (Bobbie) and Charles Coone (Pat); daughter-in-law, Pam Coone; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Harold Bassett and Rev. Ellen Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the mausoleum chapel. Mrs. Coone will be available for viewing after 11:00 AM on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 407 Petree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
