Mrs. Fotini Kazakos Ziogas, 82, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at her residence. She was born January 11, 1940, in Lithohori, Evrytania, Greece, the daughter of Rev. Fr. Theodore Kazakos and Presbytera Elizabeth Zacharakis Kazakos. She moved to the United States in 1969 with her husband and daughter finally settling in Winston-Salem. Fotini was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a member of the Philoptochos Society and loved working at the Greek Festival. She loved to be around children, cooking and gardening was her passion, and sharing it with friends and family. Fotini was devoted to her family and her Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ilias Ziogas, her sister, Alexandra Kalyvas; her brother, Andreas Kazakos and two infant siblings. Mrs. Ziogas is survived by three children: Irini Ziogas of Athens, Greece, George Ziogas (Sandy) of Winston-Salem, and Theodore Ziogas (Theofania) of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren: Alinda, Fotini, Elias, Vasilis, and Elias; sister, Maria Ballas (Gregory) of Winston-Salem; three brothers: George Kazakos (Eleni) of Athens, Greece, Anastasios Kazakos (Stavroula) of Clemmons, and Konstantinos Kazakos (Evangelia) of Clemmons; and two great grandchildren, Ellie and Iakovos. A visitation will be held 11:00 AM, Monday May 23rd at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 Noon Rev. Fr. George Kouzelis and Rev. Fr. Constantine Shepherd officiating. A graveside Trisagion and burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her residence, 6061 Rollingreen Dr., Winston-Salem, NC from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to all the physicians and caretakers who have cared for our loving mother, sister, and grandmother over the past few years, with a special thank you going to Irene for her loving and continued care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 435 Keating Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to the Panagia Prousiotissa Greek Orthodox Monastery, 404 Warner Rd., Troy, NC 37271.
