Floyd James Moore, Jr.

WINSTON-SALEM- Mr. Floyd James Moore, Jr., 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Moore was born on January 19, 1929 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late Floyd James Moore, Sr. and Margaret McBride Moore. Floyd retired from Larco Construction Company with 20 years of service. Floyd's children and grandchildren will remember him as a loving and doting father and grandfather whose deep faith sustained him through life's toughest times. He never missed an opportunity to remind his family of his love for them, and he was never happier than when the home was filled with his 'babies.' Preceding Mr. Moore in death along with his parents is a daughter, Joan Black. Surviving Mr. Moore are his wife, Stamie Myers Moore of the home; four daughters, Sandra Miller (Don) of Winston-Salem, Joyce Moore (Derrell) of Lexington, NC, Sheila Vestal (Richard) of Statesville, NC, and Linda Black (Barry) of Walnut Cove, NC; one son, Floyd ""Buddy"" Moore of Winston-Salem; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marguerite Lee of Wilson, NC and Barbara June Hillman of New Orleans, LA. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
