Floyd Mock

Mr. Floyd Lee Mock, 72, of Pfafftown passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at his home. He was born June 7, 1937 in Forsyth County to Jacob Pierce and Margaret Fulton Mock. Mr. Mock served in the Army Reserves and began his working career in 1955 with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. In 1956 Floyd and his two brothers opened Vienna Recapping. In 1968, he became involved with the City of Winston-Salem Fire Police. In 1973, he opened his first retail store on Country Club Road and is the founder and co-owner of 12 retail stores. Mr. Mock was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and a supporter of the Christian and Mission Alliance and their vision. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Ruth Pope Mock; two daughters, Ann Michelle Myers and husband, (Roger) and Laura Mock McKnight and husband,(Mike); two grandsons, Jonathan and Jackson McKnight; two brothers, Cecil G. Mock and wife, Janette and Carey W. Mock and wife, Elaine; one sister, Sarah Spaugh and husband, Bruce; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday at Center Grove Baptist Church, 8200 Center Grove Church Road with Dr. Stephen Corts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private family graveside service at Brookstown United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, 717 Oak Street, W-S, N.C. 27101 or to Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, W-S, N.C. 27103. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Tom Grote, Dr. Lisa Evans, Dr. Eugene Paschold and the nurses and staff of the Forsyth Regional Cancer Center for their love and support.
