Mrs. Flossie Speaks Mitchell, 98 of Winston-Salem died Friday morning, May 15, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Mitchell was born May 2, 1911 in Iredell County, a daughter of the late Vallie McCoy Speaks. She was retired from RJ Reynolds with 46 years of service. She loved to rescue and care for cats and dogs. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Mitchell in 1982 and by her son, Clyde Mitchell in 1967. She is survived by her son, Eddie Lee Mitchell, granddaughters, Sonya Duffy and husband Timothy, and Alesia Boles and husband Darren, great-grandchildren, Daniel Duffy, Hailey Duffy, and Mitchell Boles. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2009 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Michael D. Gates officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care 101 Hospice Lane.
