Florine Scott Hoy

Florine Scott Hoy, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2012 following a valiant battle for health for several years, after leading a very active, healthy life full of exercise. A member of Centenary Methodist Church, Florine was born November 4, 1928 in West Virginia and was a resident of Forsyth County for 45 years. She was a dedicated housewife with perfected skills in baking, cleaning and entertaining. Florine was warm-hearted and generous, and she loved to bake and share her treats with others. She was a wonderful, diligent caretaker of her husband Ron, with whom she was married for 56 years. Watching them take care of each other was a beautiful demonstration of real love. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and two sisters. She leaves, to cherish her memory, husband Ronald Hoy of Winston-Salem, NC, daughters Connie Lewter and her husband Randy of Summerfield, NC, Jo Anne Anders and her children Michael and Heather of Townsend, MI, Janet Ramsey of Summerville, WV, grandchildren Jenna Surratt of Charleston, SC, Brandon Lewter of Greensboro, NC and Kiley Lewter of Summerfield, NC, and great grandchildren Addison Surratt, Everleigh Surratt and Southerlyn Surratt. They will all miss Grams' loving spirit, joyous nature, kindheartedness and her love for Christmas. The family appreciates the medical community at Forsyth Medical Center and Hospice & Palliative CareCenter. Her devoted friends at Arbor Acres are valued and appreciated. In lieu of, or in addition to flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends at A Celebration of Life Service that will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 16, 2012 in the Robinson Hall of Asbury Place in Arbor Acres, 1240 Arbor Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
