Ms. Florence Violet Monahan, 81, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and formerly of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Long Island, New York, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Owen P. Monahan, and Florence See Lagnese, and stepdaughter of the late Anthony J. Lagnese. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Monahan and son-in-law, Sean Levins. Florence is survived by her three daughters, Dottie Morelli (Bruce), Jennifer Levins, and Alice Neff (Chad Langlois). She also leaves behind two loving brothers, Anthony C. Lagnese (Linda) and James D. Lagnese (Mary); and many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins. Florence “Florrie” grew up in Long Island, NY, graduating from W.C. Mepham High School in North Bellmore in 1960. She was a credentialed Alcoholism Counselor thru South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, NY. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, NY. Florence worked mostly in the public sector in different roles; from Social Worker to Alcoholism Counselor for Suffolk County DWI diversion program to Probation Officer for Suffolk County, NY. Florence was generous with her time, support and love. If someone needed help, she did her best to be there. She was very outgoing, loved dancing, and decorated cakes that any professional would have gladly called their own. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. There are no services scheduled at this time. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Ms. Monahan.
