Mrs. Florence E. Todd Leagans, 90, of Winston-Salem died peacefully April 2, 2016 Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 20, 1925 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Rufus F. and Nora Spaugh Todd. Florence was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she cared for many children during services in her 23 years of nursery care. She retired from Western Electric, or Lucent Technologies, after 25 years of service. Her last years of life were at Brookdale Senior Care Service where she was loved by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joe T. Leagans; a daughter, Phyllis Green; four brothers, Clifford Todd, Arthur Todd, Fred Todd and Allen Todd; and four sisters, Cora Moody, Mary Forest, Hazel Scott and Helen Grubbs. Survivors include four children, Cheryl Mahan, Joe Mark Leagans, Bruce Leagans and Cynthia Cleary and husband, Jerry; three grandchildren, Chris Green, Jarrod Cleary and Katie Leagans; and one great grandchild, Dawson Cleary; two brothers, Curtis L. Todd and Theodore ""Tedd"" Todd; two sisters, Wilma Lanning and Virginia Scott. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2130 Bethel Methodist Church Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or The Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 715 Greensboro, NC 27402. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
