Florence Elizabeth Gaylord

Mrs. Florence Elizabeth (Carter) Gaylord entered the presence of the Lord on October 12, 2011, at age 91. Preceded in eternal rest by her cherished husband of 65 years, Francis Southworth Gaylord. Beloved mother of Carol Gaylord Fenzl, John Carter Gaylord, and Richard Southworth Gaylord. Loving grandmother of eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Spouses of her children are David Fenzl, Heather Gaylord, and Nancy Gaylord. Born in Springfield, MA to Earle E. and Marguerite (Belden) Carter. Received BS in Physical Education from Russell Sage College. Taught at Classical High School in Springfield, and later with Falls Church and Fairfax County, VA schools. After moving from Springfield, Florence and her family lived for many years in McLean, VA. She was active at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church for over 25 years. Following Francis' retirement, Florence and her husband moved to Gulf Shores, AL, and then to Spanish Fort, AL. They recently moved to Winston-Salem, NC to be closer to family. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA., with interment to be with her husband at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
