Flora Whicker

Flora Belle Wright Whicker, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehab. Flora Belle was born on October 6, 1935 in Guilford County to John and Velia Ballard Wright. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed fishing, gardening and especially loved watching the hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, Flora Belle was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, James Andrew Whicker; one son, Paul Whicker; two sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Ray Whicker; her daughter, Joann Royal (husband, Eddie); five grandchildren, Renae Barnette (Joel), Travis Royal, Jason Whicker, Amy Collins (Mike), and Paula Bowman; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Ann Bobbitt of Salisbury.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum.
