Faye Vannoy Sharpe

Faye Vannoy Sharpe went peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Faye was born March 4, 1929, to Will and Ella Faw Vannoy of Ashe County. Growing up, she loved school and attended Fleetwood High School, where she enjoyed playing on the basketball team. She maintained a life-long love of sports, closely following the Atlanta Braves games. Faye and her husband, Burl, moved to Rural Hall in 1953, where they joined First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. They were active members and made lifelong friends there. Faye was a choir member, WMU member, Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Faye worked for and retired from Hanes Hosiery, after which she and Burl enjoyed traveling with family members, vegetable and flower gardening, preserving vegetables, and spending time with her family. Faye spent many hours quilting, making sure there was one special quilt made for each child and grandchild. Faye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a talented housekeeper, seamstress, cook and baker. Faye was loving and kind to everyone she encountered. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 72 years, Charles Burl Sharpe; her siblings with whom she was very close, Jim Vannoy, Fred Vannoy, Charlie Vannoy, Clyde Vannoy, Lucy Lyalls, Pansy Collier, Opal Martin, Anne Turner and Jean Lewis. She is survived by her four children, Charles (Sherrill) Sharpe of Pfafftown, NC, Sandra (Tommy) Cheek of Pinnacle, NC, Linda (Benny) Combs of Rural Hall, NC and Pam (Ned) Arthur of Sparta, NC; five grandchildren, Whitney Sharpe, Katherine (Jordan) Kiser, Sarah (Eric) Welch, Emily (Alisan) Ulucay, and Ben (Christina) Combs; four great-grandchildren, Ella Kiser, Adelyn Kiser, Bennett Combs and Nora Welch; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Sharpe of King, NC and Shirley Sharpe of TN; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
