Faye Irene Edmonds Horne

Mrs. Faye Irene Edmonds Horne, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at her home. She was born on February 19, 1933, in Dobson, NC to the late Floyd Oscar and Lela Mae Edmonds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, O'Max Horne; three brothers, Arthur, Arnold and Foy Edmonds; and two sisters, Ethel Edmonds and Edith Brown. Mrs. Horne is survived by a son, Edmund Horne (Penny); a daughter, Nanette Perry (Mark); five grandchildren, John Horne (Kerri), James Horne, Aaron Perry, Benjamin Perry, and Victoria Perry; one brother, Hugh Edmonds (Pat); and a sister, Elaine Hemric (Jack), along with several nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Faye was a graduate of Draughns Business College. She worked for The State Service Office of the NC Division of Veterans Affairs for over 44 years. She received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 1995 by Governor Jim Hunt upon her retirement for her outstanding years of service. Faye was an active and faithful member of Salem Baptist Church as long as her health permitted and was a member of the choir for over 50 years. She also held several roles in the church including secretary for the mission committee. Funeral services for Mrs. Horne will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn and Rev. Floyd Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Edmund and Penny Horne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church, 429 S. Broad St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank hospice nurse Maggie Meginnis and cna Stevie Dehart for their caring service. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Horne.
