Surrounded by family singing I Will Fly Away, Faye Ellen Woolwine Bullin departed for her home in Heaven on Sunday, August 14, 2022, to live eternity with Jesus. Amongst those who welcomed her Home were her husband, Herbert “Herb” Hoover Bullin, and their fur babies, Bunkie, Little Bit and Bubba. Faye was reunited with her parents, William Columbus Woolwine and Agnes Virginia Perdue Woolwine; paternal grandparents, William Harry Woolwine and Ruby Ronk Woolwine; maternal grandparents, Joseph Perdue and Allison Townsend Perdue; and many uncles and aunts. What a joyous reunion in Heaven!
Born February 12, 1950, in Roanoke, VA, Faye is the second child, but the first daughter, and often spoke about having to help take care of the younger girls while her mother was at work. She is survived by her siblings Richard Wayne Woolwine (Julie), Atlanta, GA; Cyndee Orleck, Lincoln City, OR; Linda Sotos, Roanoke, VA; and Sharon Wilson, Roanoke, VA.
After graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1968, Faye attended Virginia Commonwealth University. She later earned a degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. Her most recent vocations included administrative assistant with the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and a call center representative for GMAC Insurance. Faye retired in 2007 to become a full-time caretaker for her mom.
After marrying on August 2, 1980, in Hillsboro, Oregon, Herb and Faye lived in Hillsboro before moving to King, North Carolina to be closer to his family. Although Herb and Faye did not have their own children, they loved their nieces and nephews, as if they were their own. Faye is survived by Jason Woolwine (Aimee), Seattle, WA; Andrew Woolwine (Lori), Atlanta, GA; Rachel Moyer (Marty) Myerstown, PA; Amy Dwier (Don), Salem, VA; Melissa Wilson, Myerstown, PA; Joseph Wilson, Roanoke, VA; Cecil Hall, Roanoke, VA; and Patrick White (Lyza), New Bern, NC. Great nephews and nieces, Kalen and Nicky Woolwine, Seattle, WA; Parker and Chloe White, New Bern, NC; Daniel and Benjamin Moyer, Myerstown, PA; and Grace, Lily and Noah Wilson, Roanoke, VA.
She is also survived by a paternal aunt, Sylvia Dehart, Salem, VA; maternal aunt, Olive Eavey, Portsmouth, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Una and Norman Reid, Walnut, Cove, NC, and numerous cousins.
Faye loved caring and spending time with her cat, Katie. She would say they were a package deal. Some of her favorite pastimes included visiting with family and friends, doing crafts, reading, and listening to gospel and bluegrass music.
Herb and Faye were active members of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. Recently found marked in Faye’s Bible was scripture from Isaiah 40:31, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Out beside the passage, she wrote, “My set of wings is my faith in God.”
A Celebration of Faye’s life will be held on Friday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Pastor Ed Honeycutt will officiate. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at the Gardens of Memory. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory in Rural Hall, NC is handling the arrangements.
