Wayne Cook

Mr. Wayne Cook, 83, passed away November 12, 2023. He was born February 21, 1940, in Yadkin County, NC to the late Enoch Cardwell Cook and Rosa Belle Royal Cook. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System after 29 years of service. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, watching westerns, gardening, and fishing at the beach. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Johnsie Kay McGee Cook; and two brothers, John Cook and Gary Cook. He is survived by his son, Daryl Cook (Gwen); his daughter, Kim Miller (David); six grandchildren: Ben Miller (Liz), Andrew Miller (Holly), Alex Miller, Maggie Miller, Mechim Cook (Liana) and Grayson Cook; four great-grandchildren: Charlotte Miller, Pax Miller, Lili Miller, and Liam Miller; and two sisters, Betty Jean Tedder and Brenda Faye Larimore. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
