Everett Floyd "Pete" Duggins

Everett Floyd ""Pete"" Duggins, 90, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, December 23, 2016. Pete was born on December 4, 1926 to Erie Forrest and Dula Gann Duggins. He was a lifelong member of Advent Moravian Church where he served as a trustee, coffee carrier and member of the Good Samaritan Fund committee. He worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company for 33 years. Pete was a 1944 graduate of Griffith High School, and joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 during WWII. Pete was united in marriage to Virginia Faye Duggins on February 14, 1948 in the parsonage of Macedonia Moravian Church by the Reverend Jonas George Bruner. He was the very loving father of two daughters, Jeanette Marie Duggins Byerly (Fred) and Jacalyne Elaine Duggins Casper, the grandfather of Dare Alexandra Casper and Amelia Elaine Casper Spencer (Stephen) and the great grandfather of Tristan Zane Casper, Everett Floyd Spencer and Jacob Spencer. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Duggins Smith and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Edward Paul Casper. Pete was adored by his family and loved by so many friends and co-workers. He was steadfast in his faith and had longed to be reunited with the love of his life, Faye. The funeral service will be held at Advent Moravian Church on Wednesday, December 28, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Burial will follow in the Advent Moravian Church graveyard. Family visitation will follow in the Advent Moravian Church Fellowship Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advent Moravian Church, 1514 West Clemmonsville Road, Winston Salem, NC 27127 or a charity of the donor's choice.
