Evelyn Shaw Styron

Mrs. Evelyn Shaw Styron, 86, passed away May 27, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born November 10, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Ray Elisha Shaw and Sue Poindexter Shaw. Evelyn was a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder and Deacon in the church, as well as Clerk of Session, Sunday School Teacher, Enabler for Presbyterian Women, choir member and occasional organist / pianist and was presented a Lifetime Membership by the Presbyterian Women. Evelyn was also active in many community organizations such as Christmas Cheer Toyshop and Church Women United. She was an avid doll collector, reader, doll maker and enjoyed needlework and ceramics. Mrs. Styron was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Allison Styron in 2009; a sister, Thelma Pfaff and three brothers, Ray Shaw, Hiram Shaw, and Francis Shaw. She is survived by her two daughters, Jan S. Ledford and Martha S. Prudhomme and husband David; four sisters, Ruby S. Wyatt and husband Richard, Margie Blackburn, Diane Severt, and Carol Henson and husband Tom; her sister-in-law, Nancy Shaw. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
