Evelyn Sink Ridge

GREENSBORO - Evelyn Sink Ridge, 78, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at her home. Evelyn was born September 26, 1933 in Guilford County to Norvell and Edith Wilson Sink. She was a very loving mother and grandmother who loved the Lord and her church. Evelyn was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ and served as treasurer for her Sunday School Class. She retired from Bell South as a service representative where she was also involved in the Southern Bell Pioneers. Evelyn's sweet spirit was embraced by all who knew her. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father and her husband of 53 years, Joe Howard Ridge. Surviving are her mother, Edith; two sons, Phil Ridge and wife, Pam and Mark Ridge and wife, Michelle; two sisters, Jean Shoffner and Jo Burroughs; five grandchildren, Jeff Ridge and wife, Amy, David Ridge and wife, Crystal, Amber, Emily and John Mark Ridge; two great grandchildren, Laurelyn and Alex Ridge; sister-in-law and best friend, Dara Lea Ridge. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 6, 2012 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Greensboro with Rev. Julie Peeples officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
