Evelyn Drews Poague

Evelyn A. Poague went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2024, having attained the age of 82 years and 23 days.

She was born on July 5, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Herman and Anna (Stier) Drews.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Ralph (Linda) Drews; her daughters, Elaine (Steven) Dirscherl, and Elisabeth (Douglas) Johnson, as well as her grandson, Richard (Grace) Schefer; and two great-grandchildren, Matilda and Rivin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Douglas Derrell Poague (D.1980), along with three grandchildren that the Lord called home with early births: Lena, Douglas and Rachel.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church and served faithfully wherever she resided. Nearly half of her life was spent as a Floridian, before taking residence in Georgia, North Carolina (twice), a short stay in Olympia, WA and several years in Virginia. She touched many lives with her sweet smile and servant heart in the years the Lord granted to her. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel,3315 Silas Creek Pkwy., Winston-Salem, with Rev. Ronald Saake officiating. 

Conversation and a light fellowship will be held immediately following the service in the Robert F. Miller Center at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. All are welcome to join.
