Evelyn "Evie" Bitner Mowers

Evelyn ""Evie"" Bitner Mowers was born July 8, 1927 in Palmyra, PA to the late Lester H. Bitner and Beulah R. Shirley Bitner. Evie passed away June 1, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was a 1945 graduate of Palmyra High School. She met her husband of 52 years, the late Robert Mowers at the Hershey Star light Ballroom. They moved to NC in 1974. They moved to Clemmons in 1978 and then to Winston-Salem. She was a member of service sorority Beta Sigma Phi Gamma Mastus for 56 years. She also was a member of the Garden Club of Winston-Salem and was a 9 hole golfer at Tanglewood. Evie was a wonderful cook and artist. She was preceded in death by her two sisters and two brothers. Evie is survived by daughter Bonnie Mowers Young and grandson Adam Young of New York; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday on June 4, 2014 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Rennie Adcock officiating.
