Mrs. Evelyn Looper Frye, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 11, 1925 in Forsyth County to Dee Mintz and Mary Lou Blevins Looper. Mrs. Frye was a member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Sunset Garden Club, deliverer of Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed her grandchildrens Little League ballgames. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Ray Junius Frye; a son, Terry Lee Frye; a brother, J.D. Bud Looper; and a sister, Faye Cox. Surviving are two sons, Ronald Ray Frye and wife Teresa of Kernersville, David Dee Frye and wife Tammy of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Robin Frye and Terry Frye, both of Lexington, Chad Frye (Shannon) of Charlotte, and Monnette Carter (Chad) of Advance; two step granddaughters, Kristi Kaiser (Billy) of Memphis, TN and Brittany Pegram (Chris) of Walnut Cove; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Avery and Brady; four step great grandchildren, Meghan, Erin, Jenna and Cole; one sister, Anne Taylor of Winston-Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4507 Thomasville Road, Winston-Salem (Highway 109 at Gumtree Road) with the Rev. Charles Martin and Dr. Bob McLawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
